Efficient Working

Areas to consider:

  • Styles
  • Templates
  • Pasteboard
  • SimpleSet
  • Editing

Styles

The Style applied to a screen, or a whole survey, lesson or test, determines visual appearance. Styles can make a significant difference to productivity.

  • Faster. Setting the colour, font, style of every text area is a slow business. A style can do this immediately for you.
  • Consistency. As you do not have to set colours, fonts and thelike for each object, your screens can be more consistent.
  • Easy changes. To change the look of a whole set of screens you only have to change the Master Style setting.
  • Easy refinement. If you have used the wrong font, or slightly the wrong colour, you can simply change this within the style you are using and all of your screens will be automatically changed for you.

When using Question Tools in-house for projects one of the first steps is to create a Style to match the graphical look required — it is by far the most efficient means of meeting a customer's visual expectations. You can find out more about Styles here.

Templates

If you find yourself creating the same type of question again and again then it might be time to create your own templates. You can find out more about this here.

Pasteboard

The Pasteboard is a quick means of converting existing text into screens. All you have to do is paste your text into the Pasteboard and then select and drag various portions of text to where you want them to be. You can find out more about using the Pasteboard here.

SimpleSet

If you need to create a lot of simple screens (such as multiple choice questions, true/false questions, etc.) then consider using Question Tools SimpleSet. It shares files with Editor, but is primarily text-based, which can make it a faster means of creating a lot of simple screens. You can always add some of the finishing touches in Editor later.

Editing

There are a variety of editing tricks that have been developed in response to user feedback and use of Question Tools in-house. You can find out more about editing tips and tricks here.
