Users with disabilities

Hearing impairments

There are simple and effective subtitle facilities available in Question Tools. Any text area can be turned into a subtitle simply by selecting the Subtitle option in the Text tab of the Inspector window.

Extra time

NetSeries allows you to specify extra time for certain individuals where timed tests are used. The time limit for a test is set using Editor or SimpleSet, but NetSeries can add time to a test for individuals whose disability necessitates extra time.

Visual impairments

Questions, as well as feedbacks within questions, can play sounds in a variety of different formats, including mp3. This means that content can easily be created within Question Tools that provides audio support.

Screen readers

The screens produced by Question Tools for web browsers are in plain HTML. As a result they are easy for a wide variety of screen readers, such as JAWS among others, to use. Added to this, Question Tools is not built upon Flash, and so the concerns about materials developed using Flash and how they fit with the US and european legislation on disabilities, do not extend to Question Tools.
